Legal assistance and monitoring of compliance with the rights of IDPs (internally displaced persons)

About the project:

Since February 2016, implementation of the project on providing free legal aid to internally displaced persons, emergency individual protection and providing support for public initiatives at the level of IDPs communities has started. The project has been extended for the period of 2022.

Geography of the project:
Odesa city and Odesa region,
Kherson city and Kherson region
Mykolaiv city and Mykolaiv region,
Kropyvnytskyi city and the Kirovohrad region,

Project donor:  Office of the UN High Commissioner in Ukraine

All assistance within framework of the project is provided free of charge.

Legal assistance:

  1. Provision of initial consultations in all areas of law, in particular obtaining documents, issues of establishing legal facts, etc.;
  2. Identification of needs, determination of directions for their solution, in particular, referral to competent authorities, public organizations, charity foundations, etc.;
  3. Provision of secondary legal assistance, in particular, drafting of documents, statements, appeals, etc. on issues of protection of the rights of IDPs directly related to their status;
  4. Preparation and drafting of lawsuits, other applications to judicial authorities, and, if necessary, legal support of court procedures;
  5. Provision of other types of legal assistance for the protection of violated rights and interests of IDPs directly related to their status;

Emergency individual protection of the most vulnerable IDPs is determined during monitoring visits, meetings with representatives of authorities, media reports, etc.

Support for public initiatives at the level of IDP communities is aimed at proactive IDPs and their associations, who need support in the process of demonstrating independent activity in solving their own needs.
