NGO "THE TENTH OF APRIL" provides free psychological assistance, individual consultations, and psychological support for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the following directions and formats:
- Individual consultations include:
- Providing initial psychological assistance at transport hubs (railway stations in Odessa and Mykolaiv) and Humanitarian Centers, Humanitarian headquarters in Odesa, Kropyvnytskyi, Cherkasy, Kherson, namely facilitating access to basic needs for internally displaced persons (IDPs) (food, clothing, temporary short-term accommodation, document restoration, medical treatment) through referral systems to specialized institutions and organizations of relevant profiles;
- Individual crisis counselling (up to 5 sessions) to stabilise and restore emotional state (in case of fears, phobias, panic attacks, powerlessness, apathy, insomnia, anxiety, low mood, lack of energy, etc.), search for internal supports and resources to regain control over their lives and the ability to make decisions;
- Psychological support (up to 10 sessions) for children and adult IDPs in case of detection of various manifestations of distress (physical, cognitive, behavioural) that significantly reduce the quality of life, as well as in identifying exacerbations of mental disorders of various origins (with referral to specialised specialists for medication);
- Group work includes:
- Conducting group activities for children, adolescents and adult IDPs to improve adaptation and upon request according to age (life skills, communication, motivation to study and other activities, stress prevention, relationships with parents, etc;)
- Conducting group activities for IDPs (adults) living in collective sites or individually to facilitate adaptation, learning self-help in case of stress, working with emotions (especially those with a negative social colouring);
- Conducting support groups for IDPs to help them manage their emotions in a safe environment;
- Conducting informational events on mental health issues for IDPs and local population affected by the war;
- Conducting sessions from the "Self-Help+" program in order to equip with methods of self-support and support to others.
